trauma-informed care meets hope and impact

On the Road with James Trail

Together, we are stepping into places where the gaps and needs are the greatest—learning from one another, experiencing hope and impact.

Why do we go?

At James Trail, we believe in going where the gap between the need for trauma-informed resources and access to those resources is the greatest.

We support leaders on the front lines of trauma in their communities.

Expanding access to trauma-informed tools and training.

Helping them move from functional to flourishing.

In many places, teachers, pastors, youth workers, and community leaders often serve as the first responders to trauma. However, few have received trauma-informed support training.

We recognize that these leaders are the experts in their communities and that our trauma-informed resources merely expand the tools they have to care for themselves and the people they serve.

We hope to continue building these partnerships and witnessing these leaders evolve from merely being functional to truly flourishing.

Cuba

Our partners at Proclaim Cuba and their local missionaries remind us to stay resilient and that true transformation begins with relationships. Cuba itself faces ongoing economic, socioeconomic, and medical infrastructure challenges that create a gap in holistic health.

James Trail and JT Med support them by providing trauma-informed workshops and free medical clinics.

Mexico

Our partners at Shoulder-to-Shoulder in Mexico have taught us that collective storytelling and hospitality are vital to creating a meaningful community. Mexico has a shortage of psychologists, social workers, and trauma-informed practitioners, especially in rural areas.

James Trails fills this gap by offering trauma-informed workshops that empower the local community with critical tools for healing.

Moloka‘i

Our partners at Moloka‘i First Baptist Church remind us of the power of aloha—the care we show one another in solidarity and love. According to the U.S., Molokaʻi has been deemed a medically underserved area, particularly with regard to mental health. "Poverty, language barriers, geographical isolation, and the high cost of off-island travel remain the primary barriers to comprehensive healthcare on Molokaʻi."

We step in to fill the gap with trauma-informed workshops that train the local community to care for themselves and each other.

Replanted Conference

Isolation is a significant challenge for foster, adoptive, and kinship families. The Replanted Conference provides a safe space where parents can be seen and understood on their journeys. Our founder and her family have walked a similar path.

James Trail partners with Replanted to provide trauma-informed workshops tailored to conference participants.

Kenya

Our partners at Victory Child Empowerment in Kenya remind us that healing often begins when stories are told and people listen. Culturally, mental health issues are often seen as personal weaknesses or spiritual problems, and there are fewer than one mental health professional for every 500,000 people.

James Trail is filling the gap by raising awareness about mental health and providing trauma-informed workshops in local churches.

RE: Conference

We all need encouragement, but foster and adoptive parents face unique challenges amidst the chaos of their journeys.  This is exactly why the RE:Conference was created: it's a weekend for foster and adoptive parents to find time to take a deep breath and be encouraged in whatever season of walking through.

At the RE:Conference, we, James Trail, show up to welcome these parents with open arms and listening ears. We offer custom-made workshops to support them on their journey.

Jordan

During James Trail’s time with the church in Jordan, we’ve been inspired by their tradition of “Ahlan wa Sahlan” – The Door is Always Open – teaching us the power of welcoming others with open arms.

Even in a culture where family and community are central, many individuals with mental health struggles experience isolation.

James Trail comes alongside the local community to teach how to have honest conversations and reduce the stigma around mental health—because true welcome means making space for every part of the human experience.

India

Our partners in India teach us that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing from trauma. Mental health resources are often out of reach due to a shortage of professionals and limited access in rural areas. James Trail is stepping in to provide trauma-informed training for everyone, from parents and teachers to local community leaders.

Zambia

Our partners in Zambia remind us that building trust in relationships takes time and consistency. Once this trust is established, however, a deep connection is formed. There are only about ten psychiatrists in the entire country, so church and community leaders are often the first to step in.

James Trail is stepping in to provide these leaders with the trauma-informed tools they need to fill this gap.
